Jack is back!

January 25th, 2010

Finally, after 15months of waiting, we are pleased to be able to release episode 7 of Squadron Leader Jack Steel & the Starblade.

We’re all really pleased with series 2 – it’s certainly more of what I wanted when the idea was first mooted, and most importantly, it’s the sort of thing I like to listen to.

A big thanks to everyone who was involved.

Launch Party a success, we’re ready to go!

January 24th, 2010

Friday 22nd January saw the launch party for series 2 of Squadron Leader Jack Steel &  The Starblade.  It was it’s first airing to anyone other than Chris, Frank & Myself, and luckily everyone seemed to enjoy it.

So, only a few hours to go before I upload episode 7, it’s all rather quite exciting.

Launch Party Tonight!

January 22nd, 2010

We’re having the launch party tonight where we’ll unleash series 2 on to a hopefully willing selection of guests.  So far only Chris, Frank & myself have heard it all the way through, but it’s very cool.

Keep an eye on your favourite podcast app on Monday 25th for episode 7.

The Adventure Continues

January 13th, 2010

We will be releasing episode 7 (or series 2, episode 1 as some people are calling it) on Monday 25th January 2010.

We’re really quite pleased with these next few episodes as they are what we really wanted the series to be, namely a 1930s space romp vs evil aliens.

We’ll have a special edition of our “Unsheathed” podcast before then to bring you some behind the scenes gubbins, we’ll let you know more about later.

Mordred in the Can!

October 20th, 2009

as it were. .  .

We have now recorded all the main parts, there’s a couple of fx heavy voices to do but pretty much all the dialogue has been done.  There are some excellent performances by all of our cast, and the new members are welcome additions.

We will get it ready for Christmas?  Who knows? There’s a lot of work ahead but we’ll do our best.

Episodes 7-12

October 4th, 2009

We did the bulk of the recording for episodes 7-12 today,  we need to arrange for some of the actors who couldn’t make it today to turn up to the recording suite (Chris’s back room) and get the rest of the dialogue down.

Then comes the long hard slog of editing it together and adding all the fx / background noise.

We found last series that having appropriate background sound greatly increases the quality of the end product.

Here’s hoping we can get it finished this year!

Series 2 Progresses

September 29th, 2009

Sunday 4th October will be our main recording day for series 2 (or episodes 7-12).  There’ll be a few catchup days after this, then we have the long arduous task of editing and adding the fx, but with any luck we’ll be able to have something ready for December (if not before).

We’ll be using Cakewalk Sonar 8.5 for most things this time round (last time we had a mixture of three different applications) which should hopefully we don’t lose any quality in the recording process.

Stay tuned for more updates!

It’s A Wrap! Simon & Wayne’s Spiffing Movie Review

September 25th, 2009

Simon Jones (who you may recall as the “radio announcer”) and myself have launched another podcast venture – “It’s A Wrap! Simon & Wayne’s Spiffing Movie Review”.

We’re currently up to episode 5 and have pretty much sorted out what we’re doing – looking at some random trailers, dishing out some movie news and reviewing a recent film (so far we’ve done Drag Me To Hell, Transformers 2, Moon,  District 9 and Gamer).

If you’d like to hear us waffle on, head over to www.spiffingreview.com for more information.

Top of the charts

September 21st, 2009

A whole year after the release of Series 1 we’ve found ourselves at the top of our podcast host’s charts with over 5,000 episode downloads (that’s nearly 1,000 complete series, not counting direct downloads from jacksteel.itsatrap.co.uk) Here’s hoping Series 2 will be even more successful!
