Series 2 (or episodes 7-12 if you prefer)

May 27th, 2009

Tonight is the night when the scripts for series 2 get their first read through.  This really is the kick off point for series 2.  I suspect we’ll be doing the bulk of the recording in late June / early july, and given our experiences last year we’ll hopefully be a lot more streamlined and practiced with editing and adding effects.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Series 2 Update

May 14th, 2009

The first draft of series 2 is now done.  We’ll be having a read through at the end of May, production will hopefully commence in June.

Other commitments mean it’s going to be a tight squeeze to hit our September release date, but hopefully the lessons we learned from series 1 will pay dividends.

Oh, you can now follow us on twitter, just follow starbladejack and you’ll receive updates troughout the production of the series.

Thanks

Series 2

January 21st, 2009

We’re pressing ahead with series 2!  James and I are currently fleshing out the story ideas and Chris should soon be writing the scripts.

Once the scripts are nailed down we’ll be looking at recording again.  We’re aiming for a September release once again.

We’re also hoping to bring you some new episodes of Starblade Unsheathed fairly soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

So Long and Thanks for All the Fish?

October 6th, 2008

hmm, could well be getting my sci fi in a tis here!

Well, that’s it for Series One, the last six weeks have flown by.  Overall I’m very impressed with what we have managed to do, and I’m glad that all the cast and crew are dead keen on doing series two.  I think we’re looking at starting work on series two in the new year.

Thanks everyone for lsitening, I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I did helping to make it.

As a special thanks, here’s a lovely ditty by our very own Bill McSweeney to keep you going Jack Steel Song

A Lasting Memory

September 29th, 2008

With episode 6 less than a week away we’ve been busy preparing the followup merchandise - notably the audio CD, which will allow you to listen to all the episodes plus a never-to-be-broadpod-cast prequel episode (featuring Mordred, Arthur and The Archduke). As Sod’s Law would have it, the seven episodes came to a grand total of 82m:55s, just under a minute more than what will fit on a standard audio CD. Cue a mission to cull excess music, pauses and general end-of-episode-white-noise and I think we’ve got it sussed.

Why can these things never be straightforward?

Episode 5 - The Game’s Afoot

September 29th, 2008

Well, it’s penulitimate episode time.  Episode 5, The Game’s Afoot, is now available to download.  For more information see the How to Subscribe Page

After all the hard work and probably over two years in the making, we’re almost here.  It’s been fun journey and we’re still getting some good feedback.

For your pleasure, here’s an outtake from episode 4.  Effing Orders

Over half way

September 22nd, 2008

So with the release of episode 4 of our “Squadron Leader Jack Steel and the Starblade” podcast, we find ourselves over halfway.

It’s all going rather quick now, given we’ve spent over 2 years from first coming up with the idea to the actual recording and editing. It looks like we’ll be doing a series 2, but work on that won’t start until the beginning of next year.

Recording “Starblade Unsheathed” is proving to be a lot more fun than I’d originally anticipated, and I suspect we’ll do a few of these throughout the rest of the year when we have any exciting news. If nothing else, recording and editing them mean we’re getting better at editing.

Enough of this waffle! Go listen to Episode 4.

Thanks for reading!

Series 1, halfway mark

September 15th, 2008

We released episode 3 last night, and this marks our halfway point in series 1.

We’re really please with the way the series has been received so far, and it certainly full of enthusiasm for series 2!

The downloads are steady, with the earlier episodes still in demand - I think the word is getting out there.  I can’t believe that in three weeks we would have published our final episode!

Even more surprisingly we seem to have a core group of listeners who are downloading our “Starblade Unsheathed” podcasts, which is our behind the scenes chat with members of the cast and crew.

I’ve added another outtake from episode 2 to our Outtakes page, this time it’s Tom (as Rasputin) talking dentistry.

We hope you are enjoying the series and we would welcome any feedback!

Thanks for reading and keep on downloading!
